My Mom and I Have Different Styles, But We Both Would Buy These Nordstrom Items

As with other things in life, when it comes to fashion, my mom and I don't always see eye to eye. We aren't polar opposites in our looks by any means, but I tend to lean into more fashion-forward styling, and she stays in a more mainstream and polished space. This, of course, very much reflects our careers since I work in fashion, while she's a lawyer. If you were to draw a Venn diagram of our style preferences, the overlap would be very clear, especially if you were to also break down our favorite places to shop. One of these places would be Nordstrom—it truly has a great selection for every personal style.

With that in mind, my mom and I sat down for a little Nordy online-shopping session to see where we align for spring. First, we decided what categories we both often reach for. Think elevated basics like chic sweaters, classic jeans, and more. From there, we perused until something caught our attention. Needless to say, we left this session with a virtual cart full of goodies that made our list.

When it comes to transitional pieces that allow us to stay warm on chilly spring days without sacrificing style, my mom and I couldn't be on the same page more. Relaxed sweaters are one item we both reach for, especially oversize styles.

2. Straight-Leg Jeans

What can I say? My mom and I are huge fans of denim, and straight-leg jeans are one of the best styles to reach for when putting together an effortless look.

3. Comfy Yet Chic Black Shoes

Neither my mom nor I last very long in heels. It's for that very reason we are forever grateful for all the chic flat options on the market now. You'll notice we both like to stick to black picks.

4. Trench Coats

This classic jacket style is one we can easily agree on. My mom scored a cool long black option the other day, and I just might have to steal it.

5. Stylish Tote Bags

Oh, tote bags… How we love thee. They are practical and roomy and come in a variety of styles. Both my mom and I are notorious for carrying a lot with us, so this bag style is a staple.

6. Oversize Button-Down Shirts

As previously mentioned, my mom loves tops with an oversize fit, and button-down shirts are no exception. We wear ours with everything from jeans to leggings.
